Seafood Shack III: The search for Scampi

by GFR2

OK, I’ll be honest, this was only our second visit to the Seafood Shack, but I was struggling with a geeky seafood reference to Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, so I skipped it and went to III instead as that works!

But back to the food (Part 2) – Oh, that works quite well too.

After seeing the poppies at the Senedd and visiting the Warhammer shop for more paint we decided to pop into the Fish & Chip bar part of the Seafood Shack and grab a quick bite to eat.

Lets start with the obvious question after our visit last time, yes the chips are still the best in Cardiff!

This time I wanted to try the scampi (I have it at other fish and chip shops so why not!), and well, erm, thanks guys, thanks for showing me that whatever the other places sell can’t be considered scampi, not after this box of delights!  Huge pieces of scampi, light batter and very tasty – When you look at the box you don’t think there is much, but they are filling and well worth the £8.

My wife decided to try the squid, finely chopped, crispy batter (with seasoning which we think might be 5 Spice) and melt in your mouth squid – Not a collection of overcooked rubber bands that we’ve experienced in so many places before.

So the Fish & Chip bar is as good as the main restaurant (but then again, why wouldn’t it be) and the return visit had the same excellent quality, awesome food and friendly service that we had the first time.

Whatever these guys are doing, they are doing it right.
